Schools out for Summer!

So it is here. The last day of school. The Bug is offically done JK this afternoon. Handsome Pants finished Preschool on Friday. I'm quite emotional over it all and I'm surprised at that.
It worked great for my run this morning thought.
Whenever I felt I was starting to slow down I remind myself of something.
"My baby graduated preschool."

"Hes starting JK at 3.5."
"Bug is losing another tooth."
"Bug is going to be in SK in the fall"

Great things to that help you push through to keep up the tempo pace.

You know fun stuff like my kids are growing up. *Little cry*
Its those weird happy/sad things. You're so happy that they can do more and are learning more. They are starting to be come the men they are going to be and its amazing to see that and be there for all the exciting things. But on the other hand, they are growing up and are not little. The little baby smell is gone. The cute outfits, the way they look to you for everything. Don't get me wrong I'm way more happy that they are growing up. For one its so much easier to get out and do things. Its just somewhat hard to accept I don't have babies anymore. I have little men. Who are talking about moving into their own house when they are big and tall like Daddy. But they'll come visit for dinner. Hey at least I get that still right?

Powering Through

Well I got up this morning for my run feeling good. Got all ready and got the boys organized before I headed out. Bribed them with the pancakes I'd make when I got home.

I started and felt tired really quickly but at first I was putting it towards how the first km just really sucks sometimes. Well the feeling never really left. I took a walk break almost every km. It was more a mental thing so I decided to keep at it since my body was handling it ok and figured it would be good in the long run(haha) to work on powering through the negativity going through my head. Around the 5.5km mark I had to stop and lecture myself. There was a bunch of swearing and just being pissed at myself for feeling so down about it. Of course since my route was almost 10k I still had a ton to go (including two hills) and walking that home would have taken a while.

I headed off again and took on those hills. The first was still hard and I wanted to walk but I just kept counting the light posts and made it my goal to just get to the next one. Thankfully right between the hills there is an intersection and I got the red light so I could congratulate myself on finishing one hill and try to pump myself for the second one. and I did. The second hill was much easier than the first. Mostly I think because I kept thinking of the nice hot cup of coffee I could have once I got home and those yummy pancakes. After that it was just about finishing it up and getting home.

I glad I didn't give up when I wanted to. Its interesting that it can take the tiniest thing to make me think of stopping, just for a quick walk break, to catch my breathe for a second, is that a cramp?

I try to keep these in my head when I'm in the wrong head space.

Priceless!

Don't you love it when you have one of those Mastercard moments?
ummm....anyone? Well I do. and today I had one.

Since there was no way I was getting up early this morning I decided to run after I made dinner. All the boys could eat and I'd head out for a quick tempo and come home and eat too.

Well I was telling Bug about it while I was starting dinner and he asked to come along too. So I said sure, and after I plated food for Handy Manny and Handsome Pants we headed upstairs to get into running wear. I also grabbed some water and a quick pic.

I decided to try going around the block and kept having to remind him not to gun it, and to take it easy. We ran at his pace obiviously and talked the whole way. We had to stop once for a drink of water and then we were off again. When we got back home we were maybe 150m from 1km so I asked him if he wanted to stop or keep going to 1 whole kilometer and he wanted to go on so we did.
Bug did his first kilometer in 9(mins):10(seconds).

Check out the proud boy.

Then I was about to send him inside since we were back home to eat his dinner and head out on my tempo run and he asked if he could ride his bike with me running.
Ok sure why not?
So we got him all set and headed off once again. Together we did 3.77 km at around a 6:51 pace and again we talked the whole way and apparently his bike bell is also a radio and I got to hear lots of great songs like Down by the Bay, Skinna Marinky Dink. It wasn't the tempo run I had planned..... but

Getting your run in: great
Getting to share it with someone: Awesome
Running with your 5 year old for the first time: PRICELESS!

Back in the Running Shoes

Well after just over a week off of runnning I got back out there this morning. I got 5k in before I had to head back home to do breakfast and stuff for that small even called Father's Day.I managed to keep up my regular pace and honestly if I didn't already feel bad for taking time on Father's Day I would have definitely got more in.

It did feel great being back out there though, even with the warmth. Saw lots of runners, walkers and bikers out there. Not surprisingly Taylor Creek is really popular on a Sunday morning.

Oh and just because I am sooooo proud of my personal Handy Manny, here is a picture of the Farmhouse Table he made me. He finished it yesterday and I LOVE it.I get to sand and stain it but its all made.

and him posing with it, just because.

I'm still here

I swear.

So yeah as with my last post about being tired it was also making me a crappy water drinker and eater. So when I could finally find time to run in the evening after My own personal Handy Many came home I just didn't have the energy to put any sort of effort in. So after some really rough nights and days, Handsome Pants finally is staying down at night(and I totally just jinxed myself there) so this morning I finally woke up feeling not like utter crap. WOHOO!
I'm to take complete care of myself today and try to head out in the morning to get back on track. Thankfully the training plan has me still not doing even 10k yet so I'm completely ok I think and didn't lose too much. Might take a couple runs to get back to full form but I'm up for the challenge.

BTW- 99 days to my first Half!!!!

Tired

Handsome Pants is 3. Hes been potty trained for the past while but lately hes been wetting his bed. It wouldn't be to bad except for the fact after I clean him up hes decided to be wide awake and stay up for at least 2 hours or more. There have been times where I'm up to run at 5am even with the crazy nights. Thankfully the distances are still short at this point. 3-4km isn't too bad to do early in the mornings. I appreciate coffee more than ever right now.
